Unidentified Man Jumps Into Third Mainland Bridge In Lagos

A yet-to-be-identified man on Saturday jumped into the Lagoon around the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State. It was learnt that the man had boarded a car-hailing service, Uber, from Gbagada to a destination in the state. While the driver was commuting him to his destination, according to PUNCH report, the passenger told the driver to park on the Third Mainland Bridge because he had a stomach ache. After parking, the yet-to-be-identified man disembarked from the vehicle and jumped into the ocean around 11am. The Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, Nosa Okunbor, confirmed the incident, saying that rescue operation was ongoing. He said, “The guy boarded Uber from Gbagada and when they got to the Third Mainland Bridge, he told the driver that he had stomach upset and that he needed to relieve himself. High life legend, Dr Victor Olaiya, is dead. He was 89. A statement by his label, Evergreen Music Company, confirmed his death. Its Managing Director Bimbo Esho said: “The entire music world wish to announce the death of a Legend of Highlife music, One of  the last man standing, the last of the original Dr Victor Abimbola Olaiya OON.. “We pray that the soul of the Doyen of highlife music find repose with his creator while wishing the family and entire music community the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.”

Singer, Eedris Abdulkareem arrested for beating landlord over unpaid electricity bill

Veteran singer, Eedris AbdulKareem, was recently arrested for allegedly beating up his landlord, Oladipo Abimbola, over an unpaid N535,000 accumulated electricity bill on January 3, 2020, at Valley View Estate, Ikeja, Lagos. The singer was said to have forced his way into his landlord’s compound in order to beat and strangle him for instructing officials of Ikeja Electricity Destribution (IKED) to disconnect his house. According to Abimbola, Eedris’ wife rented the apartment on behalf of her husband and so he didn’t know the singer was to be his tenant. Appealing to the police to come to his aid, Abimbola alleged that the singer is an antisocial and a dangerous person, adding that such people stop at nothing to carry out their threat. The Family of shoremi from ogun state have disown their Lesbian Daughter who Lives in Canada   The Shoremi family made the move after Shalom reportedly began to seek court approval to consummate her marriage to her lesbian partner.   The advert also revealed that Shoremi was rejected by the marriage registry as her request contravene’s the same-sex marriage probation act of 2014. BREAKING: INEC Deregisters 74 Political Parties; See the retained parties

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has deregistered seventy-four political parties. This suggests that only eighteen political parties survived the deregistration process. The commission carried out a review of the performance of political parties after the 2019 general elections to see which parties qualify to exists. Briefing newsmen in Abuja, the Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu also disclosed that the Commission has fixed September 19th, 2020 for the governorship election in Edo and October 10th, 2020 for the gubernatorial Ondo state.

Ondo Missing Child: Court returns Ondo pastor to prison

The founder of the Sotitobire Praising Chapel, Akure, Alfa Babatunde, was not granted bail, on Thursday by the State High Court, sitting in Akure, the state capital. Hundreds of followers and worshippers of the church, who stormed the court premises to witness the court proceedings, and waited for his bail to be granted were disappointed as their pastor was taken back to the Olokuta Correctional Centre, Akure. The state High Court on Thursday began the hearing of Babatunde and six other defendants, who are standing trial over the disappearance of a one-year-old boy, Gold Kolawole, who was allegedly abducted in the church. The case was transferred from the magistrates’ court, which reportedly had no jurisdiction to hear the matter. Kolawole was allegedly abducted during a Sunday service of the church by an unknown person in November last year and his whereabouts remained unknown till the present time. Two pre-nursery pupils killed, 2 others injured as overhead tanker falls into classroom in Anambra State

Tragedy struck on Wednesday as two pupils were killed while two others sustained serious injuries when an overhead water tank fell inside their classroom in Royal Kings Foundation nursery and primary school, Nkpor-Agu in Idemili North local government area of Anambra State. According to findings, the victims, three boys and a girl were immediately rushed to the hospital where two of them, aged 2 and 3, were confirmed dead. Spokesperson of the state police command, SP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident, said that the tank of about 800 gallons capacity filled with water reportedly fell from its high stand from a neighbouring house adjacent to the school on the roof of the pre-nursery class and directly into the classroom. “At about 11:15am, an overhead Tank filled with water fell into a classroom of Royal Kings Foundation nursery and primary school Nkpor-Agu in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State,” the statement reads. “Police patrol team led by DPO Ogidi

Yesterday sunday the 2nd of feburary 2020, and of course the first sunday of the month which is usually a thanks giving sunday at every church. A thanks giving sunday would have become a bloody sunday if the security operatives of the church and the nigerian police (living faith church) had not moved swiftly into action after detecting a suicide bomber trying to plant a bomb in the church premises. The suspect was about detonating an explosive device when he was apprehended after being monitored and exposed by a CCTV in the church. Eyewitnesses claim that this was not the first time the suspect was at the premises What could have turned out as a large-scale tragedy was on Sunday, February 2, avert after a bomber said to be at a Winners Chapel building in Kaduna was discovered and arrested by policemen. When he was asked why they wanted to bomb the church, the man said " we planned to bomb the church due to the fact that this is a northern and an islamic region" .

2/2/2020 The Kaduna State Chapter of the Advocates For Grassroots Sports Foundation held it 2nd Inter-School Chess competition for secondary schools on 1st February 2020 at the conference hall of the Asa Pyramid Hotel, Kaduna. Inter-school chess competition, Kaduna State Twelve (12) schools from all over Kaduna State participated in the competition which was preceded by a lecture titled: “Chess as a tool for cognitive, social and economic development” delivered by Hon Bilal Halilu, a grassroots sports advocate, chess player and coach. At the end of the fiercely contested competition, Master Mustapha Hamza from Adeyemo College, Kaduna emerged as the overall winner while Shamsudeen Oyewopo from Kalimat Academy and Surajudeen Abdulqayyum of Doka Boys came second and third respectively.
