Drama as US Embassy Denies Bishop Oyedepo Visa

There was mild drama at the Lagos office of the Embassy of the United States Thursday as the senior pastor of Winners’ Chapel International, Bishop David Oyedepo was denied visa. But an ace comedian, Abovi Ugboma, popularly known as Bovi was lucky with the embassy as he was issued the visa. However, his wife, Kris Asimonye, was not as lucky as she was denied the travelling document,  ThisDay  reports. The embassy reportedly did not give any other reason except the standard default explanation that the Bishop did not qualify for visa renewal in its assessment and urged him to try again. Heaven was, however, let loose, when the obviously flustered preacher and businessman, created scene whilst querying the grounds for his refusal. Three Nigerians Sneaked Into A Ship At Apapa Wharf Lagos, Thinking The Ship Is Heading To Spain Only For Them To Find Themselves In Ghana Three Nigerian guys have been by the Tema Port Authorities in a failed stowaway attempt to Spain. The 3 guys, Isaac Daniel 32, Stephen Nuta 28 and Kelvin Popoola 26 are currently in police custody following their arrest. They outsmarted port security in Apapa Port, Nigeria and sneaked onboard the vessel MV Unity, with the conviction that the vessel was headed towards Spain.

Mother and son jailed 12 years for Internet Fraud

Damilola Ahmed Adeyeri and his mother, Alaba Kareem Adeyeri, have been convicted on a four-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretence to the tune of $82, 570, about N29.9million Idi Musa, EFCC lead investigator said sometime in April 2019, the Commission received a petition from the FBI, alleging that the official email address of American Cranes Manufacturing company was hacked and as a result the sum of $82, 570. 00 was stolen by the fraudsters. BREAKING: House Of Reps Asks Service Chiefs To Resign

Members of the House of Representatives have called on the service chiefs to resign their positions. This formed part of the resolutions reached after the lawmakers had a debate on the nation’s security during Wednesday’s plenary in Abuja. A member of the House, Abubakar Fulata, had informed his colleagues in the chamber that the service chiefs had outlived their usefulness. According to him, it will be to the detriment of the country if these men keep doing the same thing repeatedly and expect a different result in tackling the security challenges Nigeria is grappling with. Presiding over the plenary, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila put the question, as moved by Futala, to the lawmakers whether the service chiefs should resign and leave their offices.  A 53-year-old man, Vincent Akande, has been sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for raping a 14-year-old girl.  The victim’s father had told the court that their community resolved the matter and asked Akande to pay a fine of a female goat and N5,000 for the crime but he refused before an NGO, BraveHeart Initiative for Youth & Women (BHI), took up the matter and he was then charged to court.  The prosecutor, Sergeant Samuel Obeze, had told the court that Akande committed the crime on May, 12 2019 when the girl, who suffers from epilepsy, was at Igbetua river side sieving sands to get some money for the family.  The victim who narrated her ordeal in court, said the convict, a vigilante member grabbed her while she was packing sand from the river and threatened her with the Dane gun with him before she surrendered to him.  She further told the court that Akande said he will kill her like a three-year-old girl who was raped and strangled to death by...

Ortom: How I was rescued when herdsmen attacked me at the farm

Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue state, on Monday said he was attacked by suspected herdsmen while at his farm located along Makurdi-Naka road in Makurdi, Benue state capital, last week. During an interactive session with reporters in Makurdi, Ortom said he would not bow to the attempt to intimidate him for speaking up for his people. He also reiterated his call for arrest and prosecution of Miyetti Allah leaders for allegedly instigating violence against farmers in Benue state. “I went my farm last week and the herdsmen who were coming back to Benue state in their numbers shot at me, ” Ortom said. He said it was men of Operation Whirl stroke, an outfit set up by the defence headquarters, who rescued him.
